About the Founder

Grace Wachamwa’s journey began with community service when she went to teach at the Kibera slums in Nairobi. There, she met children eager to learn but held back by the lack of books, uniforms, and even daily meals. This led her to volunteer in children’s homes, where she came face-to-face with orphans growing up without parents and stability. These experiences shaped her conviction that something had to change and “lit a fire inside her” that then drove her future endeavours.

In 2023, at just 16 years old, Grace turned that determination into action by founding Empowering Innocents. By 2025, the nonprofit had already reached over 2,000 orphans across Kenya.

To Grace, each child supported is a reminder of what is possible when communities come together with compassion and purpose. Her work continues to expand, driven by the goal of giving every child the chance to thrive. Today, Grace continues to lead with the belief that practical support and consistent care can open doors to brighter futures for children who need it most.
